Fruit of heaven, Figs or Anjeer (in Hindi).Figs can be eaten fresh or dried as a dry fruit. Figs are one of my all-time favorite fruit. I use to eat it as a dry fruit without knowing its health benefits and how to eat it? But as I started taking care of my diet I came to know many facts about figs which I would like to share with all of you.

Nutritional Value:

Before knowing its health benefits first let’s know about its nutritional values. It has Potassium, calcium, sodium, phosphorus, selenium, and vitamin A, K, C, E, and B6 but while eating you need to remember one thing that the nutritional value changes after getting dried so while consuming it in a dried form just be careful and have it in moderation. The percentage of carbohydrate, fiber, protein increases in figs after getting dried.

Benefits For Weight Loss:

Weight loss, yes you heard it right figs are very effective in weight loss though carbs and calories increases in dried figs but the high dietary fiber and other minerals leads you to an effective weight loss the only thing you need to remember for weight loss that has it in a very small amount 2-3 figs per day for weight loss.

Helpful In Diabetes:

You all might be wondering that how these sweet dry fruits can help you to prevent diabetes but this is true figs have such medicinal properties which control diabetes it has a good amount of potassium, magnesium, antioxidants, Flavonoids, and polyphenol which plays an important role in diabetes and maintains the insulin level in the blood.

Healthy Bones:

Figs contain phosphorus and calcium which promotes bone health. It strengthens your bones and promotes regrowth of bones.

They are rich in laxatives properties so it is very helpful in constipation and irritable bowel syndrome. Figs have the component called cellulose which is found in plants which increase the excretion of the stool by elevating the viscosity. due to its laxative properties figs are also very helpful in piles.

Weak Immune System can lead your body to get infected easily and you often get the illness, Your body becomes weak from inside and figs are the greatest source of important minerals and vitamins like antioxidants, Iron, selenium vitamin A, B6, and E.  All of this boosts your immune system  and make you strong from inside.

Women suffering from PCOS figs are very effective for them as it has many important vitamins and minerals which are very effective to treat PCOS such as folic acid, calcium, iron, selenium, magnesium, zinc, and vitamins like A & E. Figs cleans cysts in your ovary and increases egg quantity which helps you in infertility problem in PCOS.

Figs contain potassium and low in sodium this makes it perfect to cure high blood pressure problem.

Figs are rich in antioxidant properties as it contains vitamins E & C which cleanses your blood and eliminates free radicals thus it prevents heart diseases, kidney stones, cancer and cardiovascular issues.

How To Consume:

Now, this is little tricky to consume figs because there are different ways to consume figs for the different purpose because if you do not eat it in a right way it may give you different results.

  • Consumption for weight gain

If you want to weight gain figs are very effective in this. If you want to gain weight with figs you need to have 3-4 figs every day with milk. You can soak it in a glass of milk overnight and have it with that milk itself in the morning before breakfast or you can directly have it with a glass of milk before breakfast.

  • For weight loss, diabetes, PCOS, thyroid

If you want to eat figs for these problems you need to soak 2-3 figs overnight in the water and take it out from that water in the morning and eat it as it is or if you want you can have it with a cup of lukewarm water early in the morning empty stomach. Always remember to soak it overnight in the water if you are having it for weight loss, Diabetes, PCOS, thyroid because this process will remove all the extra sugar and other extra components from the figs.
