In this article, I am sharing a gluten-free roti(chapati) recipe. Roti is an important part of Indian cuisine. Roti which is made in our homes almost every day and without which our meal cannot be completed & traditionally roti is made of wheat flour but wheat flour contains gluten which is a form of protein but there are people who are allergic to gluten like celiac patients or patients of Thyroid, PCOS/PCOD who cannot consume gluten in their diet. So here I am with an amazing roti option which you can easily replace with your traditional roti. It might not taste the same but it will taste delicious. This roti can be consumed by Celiac, thyroid & PCOD/PCOS & diabetic patients.
INGREDIENTS: (QUANTITY IS FOR 1 roti)
- One and a half TBSP BUCKWHEAT FLOUR(KUTTU KA ANTA)
- 1 TBSP COCONUT FLOUR(NARIYAL KA ATA)
- One and a half TBSP SWEET POTATO FLOUR(SHAKARKANDI KA ANTA)
- 2-3 CARDAMOM
- Pinch of PINK HIMALAYAN SALT
BUCKWHEAT: It has very fewer calories, rich in protein & no saturated fat, it is also rich in fiber which makes it perfect for weight loss. Buckwheat is gluten-free which makes it perfect for a gluten-free diet. It has a very low Glycemic index so it is very good for diabetic patients. It is rich in vitamins & minerals such as manganese, magnesium, zinc, iron, and folate & vitamin B. Magnesium improves your digestion, B vitamins, manganese, phosphorus, and zinc all help with healthy circulation and blood vessel function.
SWEET POTATO: Sweet potato is low in its glycemic index so it does not gives sugar spike in your body which makes it perfect for diabetic patients & weight loss & this also makes it suitable for thyroid & PCOS/PCOD patients. Sweet potato flour is totally gluten-free. It is full of antioxidant properties which protects you from harmful free radicals & prevents you from chronic diseases. Research also found that it improves your brain function by boosting it. It has vitamin A which improves your immune system. It is loaded with fiber which keeps you full for a longer time which means you eat less which leads you to a healthy weight loss. Due to its fiber content, it prevents you from constipation & provides you with a healthy digestive tract.Coconut Flour: It is rich in fiber & protein, Low in Glycemic index & gluten-free, it is also low in calories, digestive carbs & sugar. It supports healthy metabolism, it maintains your blood sugar level too. Coconut flour is gluten-free.METHOD: Mix all the ingredients & then slowly add the required amount of water & knead the dough. Make the roti of this dough with the help of rolling pin & while making this roti you can always sprinkle some dry buckwheat four on it to make the process easier.NOTE: This roti will be quite filling so only have 2 of these roties not more than that you are free to increase the quantity of pulses & vegetables along with it.
